Sea Breeze – Olimax' Extreme Lunching

Sea Breeze

  • 50 ml vodka
  • 75 ml cranberry juice
  • 25 ml grapefruit juice

Fill a highball glass, or larger, with ice. Pour in the vodka then the juices and give it a stir. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit.

The Sea Breeze has, by now, certainly attained the status of retro, and may be close to being on the endangered list. However, in the heyday of Fred’s Club, in the 1980s, it was the drink of choice for hot summer afternoons or sweaty nights in the city.

Hopefully due a revival soon, it is the ideal thirst quencher for steamy summer parties in the garden. The grapefruit juice balances out the sweetness of the cranberries perfectly. No need for any fancy vodkas. The bartenders’ workhorse, Stoli (Stolichnaya), is more than adequate and, although considered a Russian vodka, is now made in Latvia so politically sound.

If you want to upgrade to a Woo Woo use vodka, peach schnapps, just cranberry juice and fresh lime. Summer breeze, makes me feel fine ….
